On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome all participants and friends to the 2023 International Conference on Cyber-physical Social Intelligence (ICCSI 2023), held in Xi’an, China, on October 20-23, 2023. ICCSI 2023 is sponsored and organized by Association of Global Intelligent Science and Technology (AGIST) and IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMCS).
Transformational development in science and engineering rapidly integrates machine intelligence and human intelligence to form Cyber-physical Social Intelligence, underpinning the growing interactions of cyberspace, physical space, and social space. ICCSI 2023 then provides an international forum for researchers and practitioners from academics and industries to present the latest development in the field, including but not limited to cyber-physical social theories, technologies, engineering applications and visions, towards a smart and resilient society.
The conference received submissions from more than 10 countries and regions, including 2 workshop proposals, 24 special session proposals, and 183 technical papers (164 full papers and 19 presentation-only papers). In the final program, 129 technical papers (111 full papers and 18 presentation-only papers ) were selected.
As a tradition, ICCSI 2023 has an excellent set of keynote talks by world leading scientists. The first talk is on "Intelligent Control System for Low-Carbon Operation of Energy Intensive Equipment", delivered by Dr. Tianyou Chai, a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, IFAC Fellow and IEEE Fellow. The second talk is on "Brain-inspired Perception and Cognition: Challenges and Thinking" given by Dr. Licheng Jiao, foreign member of the academia European, IEEE Fellow. The third talk is on "Synthetic Societal Data for Real-Scale Social Simulations" given by Dr. Tadahiko Murata, the Vice President of IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC) Society. The fourth talk is on "Deep Learning Approaching for Visual Information Processing" given by Dr. Sam Kwong, the Chair Professor at the Lingnan University, Hong Kong. The last one is presented by Dr. Mingyi He, Northwestern Polytechnical University, with the topic is on "Advance and Prospect of Skip-Connection Neural Networks".
In addition to the regular technical sessions, ICCSI 2023 is particularly successful in attracting students and young professionals by organizing an educational event -- Human Machine Intelligence and Generative AI. Experts in various fields related to the theme give short courses on deep learning, audio-text cross-modality learning and generation, mixed human-machine art performance, natural language processing, image recognition, multimedia content generation, multimodal audio and video intelligent processing, android malware analysis using artificial intelligence.
We appreciate the ICCSI community, including the authors and the reviewers. Without their support and dedication, we would not have been able to reach such a good number of submissions and high-quality evaluations. Finally, we would like to thank the steering committee, the organizing committee, and the volunteers for their hard work to make the hybrid ICCSI 2023 possible and successful.
We hope ICCSI 2023 will be an exciting and memorable experience for all of you!
